Jack and the Beanstalk
The Appalachian folktale, Jack and the Beanstalk, is
presented in a four part mini-series. In between this American classic, there is
a roller coaster ride of short stories, vignettes and songs from children’s
literature, traditional puppet theater, and the puppeteer’s imagination. The
show features hand-crafted shadow figures and is fast paced, action-packed, and
full of laughs. Recommended for grades K - 6
Father Goose's Tales
Trouble in the Nursery....Mother Goose is away for the day and
Father Goose has to take care of all her chores, including the storytelling. But
try as he might he just can’t seem to get those stories right. This clever
performance is an amusing, modern retelling of nursery rhymes, stories and
children’s songs. Recommended for pre-K - 4th grade.
Shadows Around the World
For thousands of years, man has manipulated puppets for a
variety of reasons: ceremony, religion, education, therapy and entertainment. Of
the many forms of puppetry, the most magical and cinematic is shadow puppetry.
This show focuses on world cultures and history, the oral tradition of
storytelling and the development of shadow theater throughout the world. Recommended
for grades 2-6.
Sing-A-Long With Nappy's Puppets
Join in the fun with some of the silliest
sing-a-long songs known to mankind, animated with clever shadow puppets, zany
humor, and lots of participation. Recommended for pre-K - 4th grade.

Nappy's Puppets is dedicated to producing
quality shadow theater performances that entertain and educate audiences about
the range and scope of puppetry as an art form. This is accomplished in two
ways: Performances: Nappy's Puppets creates live theater that is engaging and
demonstrates the importance of audience etiquette and participation. The
Material presented is derived from children's literature, traditional and modern
music, and folk tales from around the world. Curricular tie-ins include
storytelling, world cultures, history, creative writing and the performing arts.
Workshops are designed to empower children
to become puppeteers and enhance self worth. A variety of workshops are
available to participants ages five and up. Participants are instructed in the
basic skills of puppets construction and performance, but they are also given
the knowledge to experiment with different materials and styles. Participants
are encouraged to continue their creative journey beyond the workshop.
Curricular tie-ins include creative writing, conflict and resolution and the
development of creative and oral expression.
Jim
"Nappy" is a native of Milford, Connecticut, and a graduate of the University
of Connecticut's Puppet Arts Program. After completion of his degree, Jim worked
with Bits and Pieces Puppet Theater. He performed around the country and around
the world, including The National Culture Center in Japan and The National
Theater in Taiwan.
Jim is now working as a freelance artist and performer. Jim's most recent work
can be seen on the new PBS show, Between The Lions. Other television credits
include The Book Of Pooh, The Weinerville Chanukah Special, A Show of Hands and
Stick Stickly . Jim has also worked on programs for Scholastic Home Video and
HBO Pictures.
